The bubbly Anthony, a communications major with a double minor in theatre and business at University of California, San Diego, is leaving the PlainClarity nest. Here's what he has to say about his internship:
Hi, all,
The day has finally come. Today is the day I must venture out and jump into the deep dark abyss that is the real world with all the knowledge that I have learned from Brook and Natalie at PlainClairty and hope I stay afloat...I kid, I kid. I am Anthony Manuel Flores, and I am a communications major with a double minor in theatre and business at the University of California, San Diego. After the past few months interning here at PlainClarity Communications, I feel that I have learned a lot and enough to be successful and get my foot in the door within the public relations industry. From the teachings of Brook and Natalie, I have learned more about the industry than I ever thought I would. My classes at UCSD have been really insightful, but actually stepping into the field that I am studying helped me realize more about what I will be doing, day to day, if I choose to pursue a career in PR.
This is my first internship, and I can say that I am not disappointed with what I have learned from these professional individuals. I entered college with the idea that I wanted to do PR, without even knowing what PR was about. Here, I have learned a lot more than I would have interning at a bigger agency. The level of hands-on training I received in writing press releases and pitches in the AP writing style, putting together social media and press lists and networking with several of our clients is allowing me to leave with confidence to tackle the world of PR. All of this work seemed to have paid off. I recently found out that one of my articles was published in a national magazine. Talk about amazing!
I never imagined that my work would have been published in any sort of paper, let alone a magazine. Well, it actually happened here at PlainClarity. I do not know what the world has in store for me after I walk down graduation lane in the not-so-distant future. I know, however, that whatever field I pursue, whether it be public relations, advertising or underwater basket weaving, I have learned enough about professionalism and time management under the wings of PlainClarity to be successful at whichever profession I choose. I am pretty sure it is the latter. It is time for me to be pushed out of the nest and spread my wings and learn how to fly...Kelly Clarkson would be so proud.
Peace & Blessings,
Anthony
